Are you, or someone you know, hurting or sick? Where do you turn when the world seems to be suffering?
I don't know about you, but things seem so scary right now. Things are breaking my heart.
My heart is heavy when I think of those that are struggling through this new way of life. My heart aches when I think of those who are sick and not certain of their healing.
My heart ....
I turned all of this into the following prayer for myself, for you, for our world.
Dear Father,
Thank you for always being there. Thank you for each breath that you allow me to take. Thank for being in control.
Father, I lift up the hurting, the sick (the world) and place each of them in your loving hands. Heal them, Father, and they will be healed. Save them and they will be saved. I praise your Holy name (Jer. 17:14).
Father, your word says that if anyone is sick (and right now there are so many in our world who are suffering) to cover them with prayers of faith and they will be made well. You will, personally, raise them up. You will also forgive any wrongs that they have committed against you (James 5:15-16).
Father, it is my prayer that we, as a people, will be able to humble ourselves under your mighty hand and to trust that you will lift us up when the time is right (1 Peter 5:6).
Your word says that if we listen to you and follow your commands you will not bring on us the diseases that plagued the Egyptians. You promise to heal us (Exodus 15:26).
Help us, as a people, to humble ourselves and seek your face in prayer. Help us to turn from our wicked ways, Father. We do so need your help and guidance in this. Your word promises that when we turn from our wicked ways, you will hear us. Not only will you hear, but you will heal our land (2 Chronicles 7:14).
Father, thank you for sending Jesus to walk, as a man, among us. Thank you for His willingness to go to the cross. Thank you for His willingness to take our pain and to bear our suffering. He was pierced for our ( for my ) transgressions. He was crushed for our ( for my ) iniquities. He endured the punishment. He endured our punishment ( my punishment ), so that we could enjoy peace. It is by His wounds that we, that I have been healed (Isaiah 53:4-5).
Please help us to endure, in our sufferings, Father. Your word promises that You will wipe away every tear. Your word promises that there will be no more death, mourning, crying or pain for the old way of things has passed away (Rev. 21:4).
Father, I am claiming every promise. Thank you for not abandoning us to our own devices. Thank you for always being there. I ask all of this according to Your will. In Jesus' name, Amen.
The following are the verses that I used in the prayer.
Jeremiah 17:14 NIV
Heal me, Lord , and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.
James 5:15-16 NIV
Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
1 Peter 5:6 NIV
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
Exodus 15:26 NIV
He said, “If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord , who heals you.”
Isaiah 53:4-5 NIV
Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Revelation 21:4 NIV
‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
