Today, I am moving on to the letter "A" in SOAP.
A - is for application. This is where you take what you have learned from the verse and try to find ways to apply it to your every day life.
At this point, you will need your "observation" notes from last week. If you took notes, I will wait for you to grab them.
In the meantime, here are the notes that I took:
O - is for observation. This is where you observe what is being said. What was interesting about the verse? What did you learn? What did God reveal to you?
Here is the verse again:
Psalm 127:2 NIV
In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves.
Write out the things that speak to you. Write out the the parts of these verses that God is using to reveal something to you.
Here is what I see:
O:
In a vain attempt to accomplish more in my day, I get up early and stay up late
I work hard, struggling at times, for food to eat
The Lord cares enough about me that he grants me sleep
A:
I need to learn that it is okay to rest when I need to
I do not need to struggle to get as much done in my day
Learn to find comfort in knowing the Lord loves me enough that he grants me sleep
My challenge to you, as you work through the "application " step, pick something that the Lord is revealing to you. Something that He wants you to change, correct, or give up. Then work on taking those steps.
Come back next week as I will be explaining the "P" of SOAP. Be sure to bring your notes. You will need them.
