How do you handle things when you feel overwhelmed by life's struggles? Are you able to find the joy in your trials?
Can I be honest about something with you? I am really struggling with depression.
I feel like everything is piling up on me and I feel so overwhelmed by it all. I have stomach issues that have been going on for way too long. I have this weird nerve thing in my thigh that is causing me pain. I am not handling the tests well at all.
Then you throw in normal every day things. I still need to make sure the dogs and birds are fed and taken care of. I still need to wash clothes and do dishes.
I do not feel good. And, honestly, I just want to curl up in the bed and have a good cry.
Did you know that in James we are told to consider our trials as pure joy (James 1:2)? I find it hard to comprehend. I am in so much pain. I am struggling with having to endure medical tests and not handling them well at all. And I am so depressed. Yet, in this verse, it says, "Find the joy, Leigha, in all your struggles."
I know that I can consider it pure joy and, in fact, I can celebrate because I know that these trials I am suffering mean I am closer to Christ. <--- Amen!
Let's look at this verse as I SOAP through it.
S:
James 1:2 NIV
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,
O:
Consider what pure joy? trials, tests, struggles
When? whenever you face tests, trials, struggles
A few kinds; some kinds of trials? many kinds of trials
A:
Consider it joy, celebrate when I face struggles of many kinds because I know that I am closer to Christ and where He wants me to be
P:
Dear Father,
I lift all of my cares and worries up to You. I pray that You will help me to find the joy in my struggles and to celebrate as I go through these trials because it means I am closer to You and where You want me to be. You are an Awesome God! In Jesus' name, Amen.
You Will Give Me Rest
Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3
Don't Pull Away
How do you handle when you are overwhelmed by life's struggles?
Are you able to find the joy in your trials?
How can I pray for you today?
If you will allow it, I will be happy to help carry your load.
