Don't Pull Away

When you face a really hard situation, do you turn toward God? Do you seek Him through prayer? Or do you pull away?

Can I be honest with you? I am someone that pulls away. Yes, even from God. It is something that I am working on.

I am currently going through some very odd health related things.

One issue is stomach related.

I have tried to cut out (everything) dairy, gluten <--- to the best of my ability, I don't eat a lot of carbs or sugar. I have even tried my hand at the low fodmap diet. However, nothing is helping me.

I have stomach issues. I try to eat two main meals a day with a couple of snacks in between. My second meal is usually around 1 pm. It is my "dinner". I do not put very much on my plate, but before I am finished eating, I either feel full or I already hear my stomach making horrible noises. I then feel bloated and just unwell.

The second issue is Meralgia Paraesthetica.

The second issue that I am dealing with is an icy cold sensation on my outer thigh. This is known as Meralgia Paraesthetica. This has something to do with a nerve that is being pinched or bound maybe in the groin area.

Now separate, these two issues are troublesome. I mean the stomach thing could be IBS or gastroparesis. However, the fact that these two issues have come about within the past 3 months or so. Well, even I know that they could be correlated.

Instead of withdrawing from the Lord, I want to turn all of this over to Him. Instead of wallowing in the fear of the "what ifs ", I want to give it to Him and let it go.

Today, we are going to look at Philippians 4:6-7 and 1 John 5:14-15 and making them personal prayers.

Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Prayer:

Dear Father,

Please help ______ not to be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with Thanksgiving, present ______ requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard ______ heart and ______ mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7 NIV). In Jesus' name, Amen.

1 John 5:14-15 NIV

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

Prayer:

Dear Father,

This is the confidence ______ has/have in approaching You: that if ______ ask(s) anything according to Your will, You will hear ______. And if ______ know(s) that You hear ______ - whatever ______ ask(s) - ______ know(s) that ______ has/have what ______ asked of You (1 John 5:14-15 NIV). In Jesus' name, Amen.
