Do you believe that God hears you when you pray? Do you believe that He cares about you? Do you believe that He answers your prayers?
I have mentioned to you that Tim and I have had our troubles. He told me that he did not love me anymore and that he wanted out of our marriage. He was ready to wipe his hands and be done.
I remember laying there in bed, the night that he told me he wanted out. I cried and waited for him to fall asleep. Then I got up and went out to the living room so I could cry and pray.
I asked the Lord if I needed to find a lawyer or if I needed to fight for my marriage. It was completely quiet as everyone was asleep, however, I heard an audible voice telling me to "fight". I knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that I was supposed to fight for my marriage, so I did.
It was not easy. I was so alone. I did not have anyone to talk to about anything. My friends only encouraged me to leave him and when I decided to fight, well, they were not very supportive.
Follow His Lead
You do something that is considered to be against the norm and you learn real quick who your true friends are.
I knew that the Lord had told me to fight. I clung to that with everything that I had within me. When I felt sad, I would climb into bed and pour my heart out to Him. My friends were not there, but God always was.
Sometimes our friends see only as the world sees. They thought it was normal for me to pack up and leave him, or kick him out. However, after a lot of prayer, I knew that I needed to follow His lead.
Do you believe that God hears you when you pray? Do you believe that He cares about you? Do you believe that He answers your prayers?
James 1:5-7 NIV
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
Prayer
Dear Father, I love that I can come to You with anything. It does not matter how big or how small it may be. You are always there. Father, I ask that You will give me wisdom so I know how to handle conflict whenever it arises. I am asking and I do believe because I know that those who do not believe are like a wave being tossed by the wind and they should not expect anything from You. Thank You for all that You do. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Matthew 21:22 NIV
If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
Prayer
Dear Father, thank You for being with me. Father, I know that if I believe, I will receive whatever I ask of You in prayer. I praise Your Holy name. It is in Jesus' name that I pray, Amen.

Leigha, I love this because it comes from the heart. My husband had given up on me. He even went so far as to say he considered looking on some of the dating sites. I finally broke down because while I knew that the problems were not all because of me, I was tired of fighting, tired of being told all of my life that was wasn't good enough. So I said I would leave and he told me to be gone by the time he got back. I had nowhere to go - he had family. I called my best friend, who said she got a strong feeling to pray for me that day. When I told her what happened she told me to stay where I was. If he wanted it to be over then he could leave. She and I prayed together and I felt stronger. I felt like God didn't want me to leave that house either. We stayed living in the same house for 3 weeks until I decided to start doing things for him. I would stay up and make his lunch for work the next day, make sure he had a clean uniform, leave out food for when he got home, though I would be in "my room" as he worked evenings. And I kept on praying. My husband was mad because he thought it was too little too late but the prayer started softening his heart and he started thanking me. I just kept praying with my friend and by myself and one day my husband asked if I would be up when he got home, we should talk. We talked, but mostly we cried and prayed. Since then our relationship has gotten stronger. We are seeing what the other needs instead of what we want. And we thank God for everything. (sorry this is so long)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this with me. I am so glad that you had a friend to turn to that prayed with you and for you. Prayer is so amazing! Praise the Lord that you and your husband are still together and your relationship is strong. Good for you for staying strong through the storm and for sharing that time with me.
