Do you ever feel insecure? Deal with self doubt issues? Just feel like you do not measure up?
On facing issues of insecurity, you need to remember one thing:
You are not enough.
I am sure the knowledge of that statement stings a bit. However, here is another statement for you:
Jesus is enough.
No matter how insignificant you feel, Jesus is strong enough to handle the situation. Hold on to that hope.
Do you miss out on opportunities because of your insecurities? I know that one all too well myself. It is hard to put myself out there, to take part in things when I fully expect that I am not good enough for that situation or that group of people.
Many are the times that I have passed on taking part in something. Because I knew that I was not good enough. I did not measure up. If I was given a task, I would inevitably mess it up. These self doubts play over and over in my mind until I give in to them and end up missing out on events.
I do not want this to happen for you. Or for me. How about the next time that insecurity rears it's head when you are asked to do something, you say:
I am not sure that I can, however, Jesus is enough and I can do all things with His help.
1. Look up verses about Bible Figures who struggled.
Do a search for Bible Figures who struggled with depression. Pick one character and study them.
2. Look up Jesus is enough verses.
Do a search for Jesus is enough verses.
3. Write down the verse.
Pick one Jesus is enough verse that speaks to you and write it down. Write it on an index card so you can keep it close by. Whenever you start to feel "not good enough" read over your card. Continue to do this until you have the verse memorized.
Philippians 4:13 GW
I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me.
Prayer
Dear Father, thank You for always being with me. Father, I confess that I struggle with insecurity, self doubt, and often feel like I just do not measure up. Whenever I feel that way, please help me to remember that You are enough. According to Philippians 4:13, I know that I can do anything; I can do everything because You are with me and You give me strength. Thank You so much. In Jesus' name, Amen.
