7 Verses To Pray Over Your Marriage

How is your marriage? Is it strong? Do you struggle, like I do?

Do you and your husband argue? About finances? About the children? About the house? About sex? You are not alone. My go to resource is the Bible, for comfort and guidance and to turn everything over to the Lord, in prayer.

In this series, we will be praying for our marriage. I know, that there will be times that you will not want to pray for him. However, I encourage you to press through with your efforts.

It might be a good idea for you to journal your prayers. Write down what you pray. Write down how you feel after praying. What did the Lord reveal to you? Write down your thoughts and feelings as time goes by. Be sure to find the positive things and praise the Lord for them.

A point to remember when praying over your marriage is that the Lord will take action. Yes, He will. This action will be within "you". He wants to make sure that you are in the right place and then He will work on your marriage. Stay strong in your efforts, keep going with praying for your marriage, don't give up.

Verses For Your Marriage

1. 1 Corinthians 13:7 CEV

Love is always supportive, loyal, hopeful, and trusting.

Prayer

Dear Father, Thank You for putting my husband in my life. Help me to always be supportive, loyal, hopeful and trusting. And help me to never give up. In Jesus' name, Amen.

2. Proverbs 12:25 CEV

Worry is a heavy burden, but a kind word always brings cheer.

Prayer

Dear Father, thank You for my husband. Please help me to be his cheerleader,  his source of encouragement. I want to help him carry his burdens; not add to the load. In Jesus' name, Amen.

3. Genesis 2:25 NIRV

The man and his wife were both naked. They didn't feel any shame.

Prayer

Dear Father, please help me to be open, transparent, forthcoming about my feelings with my husband. Please give me new lenses to see the things within myself that You feel I need to work on. Thank You for all that You do. In Jesus' name, Amen.

4. Galatians 6:2 CEV

You obey the law of Christ when you offer each other a helping hand.

Prayer

Dear Father, thank You for my husband. Please help me to be more like You. Help me to be willing to offer my help when I can. Help me to remember that by serving him, I am serving You and obeying Your law. In Jesus' name, Amen.

5. Matthew 5:28 CEV

But I tell you if you look at another woman and want her, You are already unfaithful in your thoughts.

Prayer

Dear Father,  please help me to keep my heart and my thoughts clean before You. I know that to lust after someone means I have already committed adultry in my heart. Father, I do not want to put that strain on our marriage.  Please give me new eyes, Lord and help me to see things I need to work on -- with Your gentle guidance. Please forgive me. In Jesus' name, Amen.

6. Song of Solomon 4:9 CEV

My bride, my very own, You have stolen my heart! With one glance from your eyes and the glow of your necklace,  You have stolen my heart.

Prayer

Dear Father,  please help me to be more like You. Help me to show the kind of love that is expressed in this verse. Help us to always have eyes for each other. Thank You for all that You have done. In Jesus' name,  Amen.

7. Galatians 6:9 NIRV

Let us not become tired of doing good. At the right time we will gather a crop if we don't give up.

Prayer

Dear Father,  please help me in my efforts to pray for my marriage. Help me not to become tired of doing good. Help me to always stay focused on You and not to give up in my efforts because I know that we will reap our harvest when it is the right time. I pray that Your will be done. In Jesus' name, Amen.
