Don't Rush Into Your Day

Psalms 118:24 NLT

This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.

This is the day that You have made. I am so thankful that You have allowed me to take part in this day. I praise Your Holy Name as I rejoice in this day.

Ecclesiastes 11:7 NIV

Light is sweet, and it pleases the eyes to see the sun.

The light is sweet, and it is pleasing to see the sun.

--Did you see the sun in the sky? God placed it there for you.

Slow Down

Psalms 150:6 NIV

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.

You have blessed me with air to breathe. Because I have breath, I praise You, Lord.

--When you woke up this morning, did you pay attention to your breathing? God has given you each breath that you take.

Psalms 143:8 NLT

Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you.

Let me hear of Your unfailing love, as I go throughout my day, because I trust in You. Please me show where to walk, for I give myself to You.

--This verse is one of my favorites. I pray it every morning.

James 1:5 NIV

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

Father, in the event that my family or I lack wisdom, today, I ask that You would grant each of us a generous portion of Your wisdom without finding any fault.

--Ok, who doesn't need wisdom throughout their day? Sadly, this is not one that I have been praying in the morning.  I do, however, think it is time to add it in.

1 Peter 5:7 NIV

Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

If anyone, in my family, or I are facing struggles, please help us to give them over to You. Help us to remember that You care about us.

Ready To Start Your Day?

The alarm clock didn't go off. She overslept. She gets up, in a panic and starts going room to room getting the kids out of bed. After she gets them up and tells them to hurry, she heads to the kitchen. She stands there trying to allow herself to become fully awake.

Before she can start working on breakfast, she needs to empty the dishwasher. Oh! The dishwasher was not run the night before. So she gets a few things out of the dishwasher and while she is washing them, she hears:

Start Your Morning Right

"Mom! I can't find my shoes!" This was being yelled at her by her oldest child.

Her response back, "Where did you have them before you went to bed?"

She continues her efforts to cook breakfast and the youngest child comes toddling out. This one is not wearing anything but a diaper. She stoops down to grab the baby and give hugs and kisses and turns back to burned breakfast.

Finally, she slowed down for a few minutes and prayed for strength and guidance. Then she made oatmeal for the kids. She fed and dressed the baby. She found a pair of shoes. She brushed hair and put in a cute bow. She even managed to get everyone to school on time.

How do your mornings start? Do you just jump up running into your day?  Do you start your morning in prayer?

5 Prayers To Help You Sleep

I don't know about you, but I can honestly say that I have had a lot of times that I have trouble sleeping. There are the times that are filled with excitement, like Christmas Eve. Where I have gone to bed, but the visions of sugar plums are filling my thoughts so much that I just can't sleep.

Take Your Cares To The Lord

Then there is the time of being wide awake because of starting labor. I was scared and excited all at the same time.

I can even remember, after T telling me (the first time) that he wanted out of our marriage, I could not sleep. I got up and went to the living room and prayed.

I shared several verses with you, already, about sleep, rest and being safe while you rest. Today, I am sharing some prayers using those verses. Below that, you will find one big prayer that is using all of the verses together.

Curl Up With These Prayers

Psalms 3:5 NIV

I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.

Father, thank You for allowing me to lie down and sleep. I am able to wake again, because I know that You sustain me. Thank You.

Psalms 4:8 NIV

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.

In peace, Father, You allow me to lie down and sleep, and I know that I dwell in Your safety.

Proverbs 3:24 NIV

When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

Father, thank You for letting my sleep be sweet as I lie down and for helping me not to be afraid.

Psalms 91:1,5‭, ‬11 NIV

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;

As I dwell in the shelter of the Most High, I will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will have no fear of the terrors that come in the night, nor will I fear the arrows that fly by day. For You, Father, command Your angels where I am concerned and they will guard me in all of my ways.

Dear Father,
As I dwell in the shelter of the Most High, I will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will have no fear of the terrors that come in the night, nor will I fear the arrows that fly by day. For You, Father, command Your angels where I am concerned and they will guard me in all of my ways. Thank You for letting my sleep be sweet as I lie down and for helping me not to be afraid. In peace, Father, You allow me to lie down and sleep, and I know that I dwell in Your safety. Thank You for allowing me to lie down and sleep. I am able to wake again, because I know that You sustain me. Thank You.

Don't Toss And Turn

Do you ever have those nights? You know, where you toss and turn all night? But no matter what you try, you can't seem to stop your mind from running?

Yes, there have been so many times that I feel like my mind is running 90 miles per hour. I can't get it to stop chattering long enough to let me drift off to sleep.

Meditate On God's Word

I have found that meditating on God's Word helps me so much. I will spend time throughout the day memorizing a verse and then at night, I recall it. I keep going over it, in my mind, until I have peace. Usually, I fall asleep while doing that. And, if I wake up, to roll over, I recall the verse again until I drift back off to sleep.

I have gathered a few verses about sleep, rest, and about being safe while you rest. Grab one and start memorizing it today.

Verses On Sleep

Psalms 3:5 NIV

I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
