Have you ever had to make a sacrifice? Something that you knew you could make do without, but that would "maybe" benefit someone else?
To make do without something so someone else can benefit. When I think about that, it brings to mind thoughts of when the boys were little. We had to scrounge a lot, back in those days, to have enough money to eat. So, when someone wanted seconds of something that I cooked, I always made sure they got their seconds.
In today's verse, we learn that when we give thanks, for all that the Lord has done, it is our way of sacrificing a thank offering.
Psalm 116:17 NIV
I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the Lord .
The word sacrifice, according to dictionary.com
Sacrifice -
A surrender of something of value as a means of gaining something more desirable or of preventing some evil
I have never stopped to think that giving thanks to the Lord is my offering a thank sacrifice. However, that is exactly what we are doing every time we stop to thank Him for something.
What are you thankful for today? Take time, today, to offer up your thank offering to the Lord.
I am thankful for all of my aches and pains. I am thankful for my pituitary tumor that has thrown off everything in my body. I am thankful for my fibromyalgia. I am thankful for my migraines and other headache days. I am thankful because even with all of these pains, I can still focus on the Lord. It is through these pains that I am drawn closer to Him. I am thankful to be able to sacrifice my body ( by enduring pain and insufficiency ) to "maybe" benefit someone else.
Prayer:
Dear Father,
I sacrifice a thank offering to You and call on Your name, Father ( Psalm 116:17 ). Thank You for all that you do for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Writing Challenge; 2/3 John, Jude
Full Of Praise
Encouraging A Sick Loved One
How To Fight The Christmas Blues
Express Your Gratitude
Have you ever had to make a sacrifice?
Something that you knew you could make do without, but that would "maybe" benefit someone else?
How can I pray for you today?
If you will allow it, I will be happy to help carry your load.
