A Time To Dance

What is your experience with going to the doctor? Do you feel a sense of dread?

Oh the joy of having to answer 100 questions for a new doctor. Do you have any allergies to any medication that we need to know about? Do you have a history of X ? Is there a history of X in your family?

One question that I was asked was about my energy levels. I give a little chuckle every time a doctor asks me about my energy levels. I mean, come on, just because you are an ENT doctor and I am here about my sleep study, does not mean that I instantly have energy. But you are adorable.

My energy tanks very quickly.

So, I have to explain that I have a pituitary tumor which has messed up everything. The hormones that are usually produced by the pituitary gland are not being produced by mine. As a result, I have secondary adrenal insufficiency. I do not have a lot of energy any more; no matter how well this machine says I am sleeping. And my energy tanks very quickly.

Luckily, he knew exactly what I was talking about. He asked me questions about my condition that shows an understanding on his part. I am very impressed with him. Sadly, there just are not that many in the medical field (be it doctor, nurse, tech person) that know anything about Addison's Disease.

I did learn something from this visit.

I was diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea. My oxygen, on the other hand, was more of a concern. He said it was dropping into the 60% range. That is very scary to think about.

I want to encourage you to read through Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 NIV.

Here are the verses that really speak to me, at this time.

Ecclesiastes 3:1,4 NIV

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,

Prayer:

Dear Father,

Please help me to remember that there is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven. Help me to remember that there is a time to weep, but there is also a time to laugh. Help me to remember that there is a time to mourn the loss of what could have been, but that there is also a time to dance and to give you praise. In Jesus' name, Amen.

What is your experience with going to the doctor?
Do you feel a sense of dread?
How can I pray for you today?
If you will allow it, I will be happy to help carry your load.
