Handwrite Scriptures; 3 Reasons You Should

Do you have a hard time understanding the Bible? Do you want to read the Bible, but end up feeling overwhelmed?

I have to confess...

I struggle with comprehending a lot of what I read in the Bible.

It gets overwhelming for me.

Gives me a headache and then ....

I just give up.

Okay, now, let's talk about writing out the books of the Bible. Yes, you can do it.

You just slow down for those several moments that it takes to write out the verses and things seem to come alive. At least, they do for me. I highly encourage you to try writing out the books of the Bible. You do not have to do it all in one sitting, but it will be so beneficial for you if you take the time to try.

Reasons To Handwrite Scriptures

1. Revelation 1:9-11 NIV - John wrote them.

I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. On the Lord’s Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, which said: “Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.”

2. Deuteronomy 6:9 NIV - Moses suggested writing them.

Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

3. Exodus 34:1 NIV - the Lord wrote them.

The Lord said to Moses, “Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.

The Meaning of  S.O.A.P.

S - scripture - write out the verse(s) that speaks to you.

O - observation - write down anything that you observe in the verse(s).

A - application - write down how the Lord is guiding you, through this
verse(s) to apply something to your life.

P - prayer - using what the Lord has revealed to you and using the verse(s) as a guide, pray the verse back to the Lord.

Praying Scriptures For Your Marriage

What are you facing in your marriage today? Do you and your husband argue? Do you have problems with communication? Start with prayer.

I don't know what you are facing in your marriage today. I do, however, want you to know that you are not alone.

T and I are getting closer to the empty nest phase of our lives. He keeps talking about being ready for retirement,  but what strikes me is the fact that we just do not have a lot in common.

It is my hope that as his retirement gets closer, we will be able to find a hobby that we can do together. Something that we can look forward to each week and hopefully not get on each other's nerves too much.

Cover Your Marriage

No matter what you are facing today, there is hope. You can cover your marriage in scripture. Pray the word over your marriage so the Lord will protect it, make it strong and give you guidance.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 NIV

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

Prayer:

We are better together, because we have a good return for our labor: If I should fall down, he can help me up. But have pity on me if I should fall and have no one to help me up. Also, when we lie down together, we will keep warm. But how can I keep warm alone? Though, alone, I may be overpowered, together, we can defend ourselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken (Ecclesiastes 4:9‭-‬12 NIV).

Romans 12:10 NIV

Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Prayer:

Help me to be devoted to my husband in love and to honor him above myself (Romans 12:10).

Ephesians 4:2 NIV

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

Prayer:

Help me to be completely humble and gentle; help me to be patient, bearing with him in love ( Ephesians 4:2).

1 Corinthians 16:14 NIV

Do everything in love.

Prayer:

Let everything that I do be done out of love (1 Corinthians 16:14).

Praying Scriptures For Protection

Are you the type of parent that swoops in and fixes everything? Do you try to allow your children to learn from their struggles?

I do not like to think that I am the type of parent that rushes in to fix problems when they come up. Oh, don't get me wrong. When problems arise, I want to swoop and save. However, I know, that my children are not going to grow into adults that make wise decisions if I always rush in.

There are two stories that I am thinking about.

This first one involves Taylor.

Mr. Texas A & M, himself,  :).

It was back in December. He had plans to fly to Orlando and meet with a friend for the weekend. Plans had been made, tickets purchased, etc., etc. Then, T and I find out later that, he missed his flight. He went to the wrong airport in Houston.

Since he is so far away, I was not able to swoop and save. He just had to miss out. However, this did provide a learning experience for him.

The second story involves Jacob.

Mr. Bass Player.

Jacob has this knack of, misplacing things. He misplaced one of his cellphones and we bought him another one. When it happened again, he had to pay for it himself. Today, he has had to make do without his wallet.

Oh, that isn't the worst part. He almost ran out of gas and had no cash on hand to buy more. He called me expecting me to swoop and save him.

Sad little bird. First off, I do not drive. Second, the thought of having to drive stressed me to no end.

I told him that he probably needed to wait on his dad, if he didn't think he would make it home. However, there is, hopefully a lesson being learned in this. Keep better track of your belongings.

In praying scriptures, I picked Psalm 121 for you this week. So we can practice praying the scrptures for protection around our loved ones.

Psalm 121

I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord , the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Psalm 121:1‭-‬8 NIV

Prayer:

_____ lifts up _____ eyes to the mountains— where does _____ help come from? _____'s help comes from the Lord , the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let _____'s foot slip— he who watches over _____ will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. How To Pray Scriptures

Do you, like me, struggle with your prayer life? Are you longing for a deeper connection with the Lord during your prayer time?

The Lord Hears Our Prayers

When we pray scriptures, we are praying God's words back to Him. When we take the time to pray His words back to Him, we remind Him of His promises to us. He hears our prayers and takes action.

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you just did not know what to pray? When we pray scriptures back to God, we just fill in the person's name, that we are praying for, and give it over to Him.

Yes, there are so many verses to choose from, but today, I am going to start you off with Psalm 23.

First, I will list the verses and then there will be a prayer with blanks. You can substitute in a name and then add in him/her where needed.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Dear Father,

Thank you, Lord for you are ______'s shepherd, _____ shall lack nothing. He makes _____ lie down in green pastures, he leads _____ beside quiet waters, he refreshes _____ soul. He guides _____ along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though _____ walks through the darkest valley, _____ will fear no evil, for you are with _____; your rod and your staff, they comfort _____. You prepare a table before _____ in the presence of _____ enemies. You anoint _____'s head with oil; _____ cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow _____ all the days of _____ life, and _____ will dwell in the house of the Lord forever (Psalm 23). In Jesus' name, Amen.
