To The One Who Feels Unwanted

Has something happened that has caused you to feel unwanted? Do you feel unspecial and like you do not matter?

To the one who feels unwanted.

Yes, I see you. Something happened in your past that has caused you to feel unwanted, unspecial, like you do not matter.

It can be hard to hear.

Those words.

"You were not a wanted child."

Oh, the sting you must have felt. The words may have even knocked the breath right out of you.

Your mom looked you in the face as she told you these things about your dad. He did not want you. She told you that he tried to get her to have an abortion. When she wouldn't do that, they got married. Shortly after they were married, he threw her down in hopes that she would miscarry.

I know that must have been so hard for you to hear. I can just picture you sitting there, pressing your feelings down, but only being concerned for your mom.

As the years continued to pass, however, you were able to see things a lot easier. Things just made sense for you. They were not easy, they were not fair, but they made sense.

Walking On Eggshells

Your dad seemed to compare you to others and make you feel bad because you were not like them. He compared you to your brother. He compared you to your cousins. You were never able to live up to them or to the image that your dad held of them.

It never took much to upset your dad, did it? You never knew, for certain, where you stood with him. If he got mad, he had a knack of cutting people from his life. And you had to learn to walk on eggshells.

How many times, over the years did he cut you out? How many times did he make you feel like a piece of trash to be thrown away?

I want to tell you that I am so proud of you. Even as you are going through these hard times, because of him, you clung to the Lord. You found your peace in Him. Even when your mom got sick and passed away. You had peace through it all.

It is during hard times, like that, that we need the Lord more than anything. I know, however, that when you face depression, you have a tendency to pull away. I am so proud of you for finding your connection to the Lord, during this time.

When hard times hit you, in the future, and they surely will, look back on this and remember how the Lord was with you and how He brought you through. He is always there.

Ephesians 2:10

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Prayer:

For I am God's masterpiece. He has created me anew in Christ Jesus, so I can do the things he planned for me long ago.

Psalms 27:10

Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me.

Prayer:

Though I have been forsaken by my father and mother, the Lord will receive me.

Ephesians 3:18-19

may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,

Prayer:

Help me to have the power, together with all Your people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is Your love for me.

Psalms 139:14

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Prayer:

I praise You, Father, because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Has something happened that has caused you to feel unwanted?
Do you feel unspecial and like you do not matter?
How can I pray for you today?
If you will allow it, I will be happy to help carry your load.
