What are some things that you are afraid of doing? How do you overcome negative thoughts?
Happy March!
I am someone that enjoys March. Everything is fresh and it holds the promise of new beginnings.
Do you have things that you are afraid of doing? Things that you dread?
For me, it is being afraid of failing. I constantly worry that I am going to let everyone down. I also feel like nothing I do is good enough.
How do you deal with those thoughts and feelings?
Now here I am working on sharing the Lord's word and I worry that I am going to let Him down. I think some of my depression lately (other than the rain) has been my fear of failing Him.
This is just something that I am struggling with. So how do I cope with these thoughts and feelings?
1. Turn to the Bible.
Look up verses that will help you to have positive thoughts. Here are a few to get you started.
Philippians 4:8
Colossians 3:1-2
1 Thessalonians 5:16-19
2. Find 3 things to be thankful for and focus on them.
Spend some time thinking about the things in your life that you are thankful for. Pick out three things and as you give thanks for each of them, spend time focusing on them instead of your negative thoughts.
3. Listen to worship music.
When you feel yourself sinking into your negative thoughts, play some worship music and sing along.
Luke 2:10 NIRV
But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news and great joy. It is for all the people."
This is the announcement of the birth of Christ to the shepherds. To me it is saying not to be afraid of sharing the good news of the birth of Christ.
Ephesians 6:16 CEV
Let your faith be like a shield, and you will be able to stop all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
I will hold on to the above verse.
