Lessons Learned From Parakeets

You know how I have mentioned that T and I have started birdwatching? I am sure that I have mentioned it once or twice. Well, Tim bought me Parakeets for Easter. They are so adorable and a lot of fun to watch. However, determining if they are male or female is a different story (haha).

I wanted to share something that I have learned just since having these little guys (oh about 2 days now). Tim and I have lovingly bought "toys" for them to play with and decorated their cage with them. We spend a lot of time patiently reaching into the cage talking to them, singing to them, whistling to them; showing them love. We desperately want them to know that they can trust us, that they are loved and are safe with us.

Does that make you think of anyone? I just picture the Lord providing everything for us. He reaches out to us in love over and over. He is so patient with us. He is so patient with me. He wants me to know that I can trust Him, that He loves me, and that I am safe with Him.

Luke 23:44-46 NIRV  It was now about noon. The whole land was covered with darkness until three o'clock. The sun had stopped shining. The temple curtain was torn in two. Jesus called out in a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my very life." After he said this, he took his last breath.

Spoiler alert... He Is Risen!!!

Mark 16:1-20 NIRV The Sabbath day ended. Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices. They were going to apply them to Jesus' body.  Very early on the first day of the week, they were on their way to the tomb. It was just after sunrise. They asked each other, "Who will roll the stone away from the entrance to the tomb?"  Then they looked up and saw that the stone had been rolled away. The stone was very large.  They entered the tomb. As they did, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe. He was sitting on the right side. They were alarmed.  "Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. But he has risen! He is not here! See the place where they had put him. Go! Tell his disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him. It will be just as he told you.' "  The women were shaking and confused. They went out and ran away from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.  Jesus rose from the dead early on the first day of the week. He appeared first to Mary Magdalene. He had driven seven demons out of her. She went and told those who had been with him. She found them crying. They were very sad. They heard that Jesus was alive and that she had seen him. But they did not believe it.  After that, Jesus appeared in a different form to two of them. This happened while they were walking out in the country. The two returned and told the others about it. But the others did not believe them either.  Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating. He spoke firmly to them because they had no faith. They would not believe those who had seen him after he rose from the dead.  He said to them, "Go into all the world. Preach the good news to everyone. Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who does not believe will be punished. Here are the miraculous signs that those who believe will do. In my name they will drive out demons. They will speak in languages they had not known before. They will pick up snakes with their hands. And when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all. They will place their hands on sick people. And the people will get well."  When the Lord Jesus finished speaking to them, he was taken up into heaven. He sat down at the right hand of God.  Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere. The Lord worked with them. And he backed up his word by the signs that went with it.

Jesus took all of my sins upon Him, He endured all of the punishment that was supposed to have been mine so that I could have a relationship with the Father.

Dear Father, I thank You for sending Jesus to die on the cross for me. I know that He took my sins so that I could be forgiven. I know that He endured all of that punishment that was meant for me. He did all of this so I could have a relationship with You. Father, I lift up my friend that is reading this right now. May they feel Your presence in their life. May they come to accept Jesus as Lord of their lives so they can have a relationship with You as well. I praise You so much. In Jesus' name, Amen.
